Belltown Ballet and Conditioning (BBC) Studio: 2306 4th Avenue between Bell and Battery, on the East side of the street. Free Street Parking is Available in the Vicinity. Please bring finger cymbals and water bottle.  There are mats at the studio, but you may want to bring your own yoga mat.

With an emphasis on moving from the core muscles, Zanbaka's approach to belly dance offers students the vocabulary, skills, and freedom to pursue whatever style they prefer.  The Level 1 Class is appropriate for those who have never taken a dance class in their life and for more experienced dancers who want to perfect the basics. In addition to more advanced versions of the Level 1 Class content, the Level 2 Class includes work with layering, traveling steps and combos from a revolving array of bellydance styles. Over the four months series, each level will explore the following technique:

Level 1: Foot Patterns, Finger Cymbal 3's at Half and Full Time, Soft and Strong Arm Positions, Floreos, Wrist Isolations, Hand Undulations, Low Arm Undulations, Shoulder Isolations, Vertical Figure Eights, Hip Twist, Horizontal Figure Eights Variations, Head Isolations, Up Hips, Side Hips, Down Hips, Raised Up Hip and Timing Variations, Ribcage Variations, Hip Diamond Variations, Upper/Lower/Full Body Undulations, Abdominal Isolations, Even Shimmies, Leg Shimmy, Weight Shifting Shimmy, Up 3/4 Shimmies, Down 3/4 Shimmies, Basic Turns, 4/4 Rhythms, Combos to practice transitions and put the movements into context.

Level 2: Complex Foot Patterns, Wrist and Elbow Leading Soft Arm Series, Floreos Layered on Dynamic Strong Arms Positions, Leg Shimmy with Layering Variations, Traveling and Changing Levels with Beginning Technique Isolations, Traveling Up 3/4 Shimmy 1, Traveling Up 3/4 Shimmy 2, Traveling Down 3/4 Shimmy 1, Traveling Down 3/4 Shimmy 2, 3/4 Shimmy Layers and Variations, Quiver Shimmy, Raised Up Hip Variations and Shapes, Working with Degree of Range and Crispness, Layering Combos, Turns (Paddle, Barrel, 2 Step, 3 Step, Slow Pivot), complex 4/4 Finger Cymbal Patterns at Full Time, Basic Veil work, Combos to practice transitions and explore musicality.

April 27, 2008 - Zamani Flamenco performance and Intro to Flamenco Workshop with Zanbaka at the Seattle World Rhythm Fest 

Introduction to Flamenco with Zanbaka at the Seattle World Rhythm Festival, 11am @ the Black Box Studio H, Center House, 4th Floor, Seattle Center. Zamani Flamenco will perform at the Center House Main Stage at 1:45pm. The World Rhythm Festival one of the largest events of its type in the world, distinct for its participatory nature and diversity of musical offerings. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own instruments to experience a rare opportunity to learn from and play with musical masters. Admission is free to all Festival events. May 25, 2008 - Zanbaka performs with Guests La Pena with Carmona Flamenco @ the NW Folklife Festival
Sunday, May 25th, 2007 - Zanbaka will be appearing with guest group, La Peña Flamenca de Seattle (comprised of the advanced students of Rubina and Marcos Carmona) with Carmona Flamenco at the 2008 Northwest Folklife Festival. Performance will begin at 7:30pm,  International Stage, Seattle Center. Festival events all weekend long, Memorial Day Weekend, Admission by Donation.





First 3 weekends in June: Zamani Flamenco performs in Walrus/EPIC Productions Performance Series

Walrus Performance Productions Presents the 1st Annual Spring E.P.I.C Festival, June 6-8, 13-15, 20-22, 27-29. Zamani Flamenco will be performing the first three weekends in June along with a line-up of many talented performers. Stay tuned for more details!

A Two Night Engagement at the Ethnic Cultural Theatre, Saturday and Sunday, June 28-29, 2008. Under the direction of Rubina Carmona, La Peña (comprised of the advanced students of Rubina and Marcos Carmona) will be presenting traditional and modern flamenco music and dance, several new works of choreography. Saturday, August 16, 2008 - Zamani Flamenco at the Smoke Farm Arts Festival
Smoke Farm culminates another triumphant season as a haven for exploration, instigation and agitation with its 3rd annual summer festival; "Interstitial Heroes", on August 16th at Smoke Farm.
As with our two previous festivals, "Secret of Gold" and "Pataphysical New Year", this year's festival, titled; "Interstitial Heroes", is a daylong extravaganza of theater arts, dance performance, live music, literary high-jinks, installed art, and experiences that defy easy classification. All this takes place at Smoke Farm, a unique rural venue near Arlington Washington. Guests are invited to come just for the day or to camp overnight in the fields and groves of the farm. Join us on Saturday August 16th, starting at 2pm and continuing until late. Tickets include dinner, prepared by Stumbling Goat chef Seth Caswell, and a bedtime story too! Tickets are $25 advance ( and $35 at the gate.
